My Culture
This term for PBL, we have been learning about our Culture. My Culture is South Africa today I am going to tell you a little bit about my Culture
I am going to talk about a BBQ, a Song and a Dance
First Food
- BBQ is called a Braai
- Open fire ( no gas! )
- Boerewors ( which is a type of meat )
- pap ( maize porridge & tomato / onion gravy
( corn )
Second the song
South African Anthem.
- Called "Kinki's Sikelele iafika"
means " god bless Africa
- 5 languages (different each verse )
English, Afrikaans and 3 other language
And last but differently not least
The gum boot dance
-African dance by dancers wearing gumboots (bells)
-used to communicate in the mines because there was no talking allowed

I really enjoyed reading your culture post Mia. It is interesting to find out more about those connected to us. I am intrigued about the gumboot dance. Maybe you could do a post about this dance and tell your viewers more. Have you actually danced the gumboot dance?
